A Transformation Story - James Grande

Transformation stories, like the one below, are dedicated to every high school, college, or professional athlete who believes they do not need to train in an elite environment.

Our athletes share these stories so you can learn from their mistakes.

If you think this article is meant to reach you, it is ...

James Grande was your typical college athlete.

  • Nagging injuries ...
  • Moderate strength gains ...
  • And refusing to be part of Advanced Training.

For some unknown reason (maybe it was me begging him or Pat Brennan threatening him), James decided to train with us in the summer right before his senior year.

James left Advanced Training the exact opposite way he came in:

  • Pain Free
  • Huge Strength Gains
  • Wishing he was part of this earlier.

Here are two examples of the strength gains James made in a 3 month period. To say they are impressive is an understatement.
  • Bench Press: 35lb increase (from 240 to 275)
  • Deadlift: 40lb increase (from 355 to 395)

The video below shows him dominating a 335 lb deadlift, which at the time, was 95% of his original 355 max. .... LIKE WATER ....

He was also on the path to tripling his pull-up max, but he sliced his hand badly the day before testing while doing manual labor at his summer job.

When I refused to let him test, he took this home video to prove to me he was not soft.

While this set is nothing to brag about, that fact that he even tried to do this proved to me he was really an Advanced Training guy.

In the next post, I am going to share with you a letter James wrote to me about his experience at Advanced Training. If that letter helps even one athlete have a similar transformation story, then it is absolutely worth sharing.
